Hey folks! I was wondering how many of you have heard of bigcartel? I set up a small portion of my shop there. i am still adding products ... currently my limit is 25 products. After being gone for so long, my favorite peonies are back in the garden. When I saw them available again - no kidding- my heart starting racing, my palms got sweaty and I covered my mouth fearing I would scream and wake up my napping children. The pictures don't do them justice. They are stunning.

Recently at a local craft fair I brought these little ditties with me and they were my #1 hit with the kiddos. Little girls especially had a difficult time deciding which color they wanted to wear as bracelets. These work not only as fun little kid bracelets, but their original purpose was hair ties. And they actually work! I use them in my hair and they come out of my long brown locks with no teasing or roughness. I know, who'dathunkit?

The other use I thought would be neat would be to keep your keys looped on here. Or perhaps a baby anklet? What are your awesome ideas? If you're interested in having these on hand (bahaha... no pun intended!) find them in my etsy shop.

Ok, the new item in my shop is called a Poofer.... but not the kind you think. Check it....

These cute marabou feather "Poofers" are great for all sorts of creating. They measure about 4 inches in diameter with all their fluff and have a felt circle attached to the back for easy attachment to assorted clips and headbands. The felt also makes it easy to attach other additives such as feathers, stemmed beads ect. Add these to flip-flops for next summer sales! Need more ideas? Check these out....

You may be surprised at which rose this came from in my shop.

Have you ever heard that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover? The same applies here. This came from one of the five available "translucent silk roses" in the garden available for only $2.00. Look how open you can make it! This may have been two roses put together to make a fuller product.

Thank you to Jamie from ImpactPhotographyGroup for creating and photographing this lovely item. This is what I call a "peony rose." It is really just a budding peony, but it looks much like a rose. It is one of my favorite "roses" in my shop :)

Don't be fooled by the closed nature of the peony rose. Look how open you can make it simply by flattening the outer petals. You can make it even more flat by taking out the plastic forms and adding your own embellished center.

Why does everything look cuter on a baby? I love this flower, but I love it even more on babies. Isn't it darling? What is interesting about these ranunculus' is that the first top layers comes off real easy but all the other layers you see in these pictures are already glued together. That means you just take out the stem and place your own cute little embellishment in the middle and you're done! It's easy-peazy.... and look how adorable!

I've decided its time to spruce up my garden with some tea roses. First, I got the butter pink and red tea roses back in stock. It's been over six months since I planted these here. There will be a greater variety of colors to come over the next several months. I'll let you know when they've bloomed.

Do you ever wish you could handpick the flowers that go into your bouquet? Ok ok. People do it all the time. Just go to your local craft store, right? But is it affordable? Single stemmed artificial flowers, and especially floral arrangements can be pricey. Here's an idea. Make one yourself! If you're not a DIY (do-it-yourself) type of person, it's never too late to start! Ready?

Take some pre-cute stems (get 20 for only $2.00 here)

Add some leaves. Leaves are easy to add. Most have a little round hole at the base of each stem that slips right onto the stems. You can get a whole gallon bag of random artificial foliage for as low as $2.50 here.

Or, we'll make it even easier. You can buy 10 stems with leaves already attached here for only $3.00.

Add some bear grass and cattails (Buy 10 pre-Cut stems for $3.00 here).

Each month I put together a themed activity for ladies in my neighborhood to participate in, should they choose. We gather as members of the Relief Society belonging to the LDS Church. Learn about us at lds.org. Sometimes for these activities a poster is made to stick in the foyer of our church to let the women know about the upcoming activities. One particular month, our theme was "sowing seeds in Relief Society". I took some of my flower "seconds" and made this:

I used some blossoms, a ranunculus, artificial stems and leaves. I just took the plastic forms out, added a cute embellished center and hot glued it all to the poster. It only took a few minutes and wham bam we got 'er done. Do you have spring themed activity coming up? Seconds are the way to go when you need one-time use flowers.

It is really fun for me, as a supplier of flowers, to see what others create with them. I believe the most common use for those flowers, is currently to make them into clips for headbands. But I've had people purchase them for wedding dresses or decor, purses, flip-flops, photo props and so on.

So, on those days when I have a minute or two to browse Etsy, I do just that. What do I look for? My flowers.There are so many different uses for them. Take this Ivory Peony for example.

In other, less consequential news, I was finally able to get some things back in my shop that have been MIA for ~~years~~ OVER 6 months! But they are back! Finally! Want to see what they are? wanna? ok ok.

You Can Do it. Here's How.

There are many tutorials out there showing you how to take an artificial flower and make it into something wearable. I've perused the sites and chosen a favorite for today just to give you a taste. There are lots of videos too. I'll post one of those soon. The following tutorial and pictures are taken from acraftykindoflove.com. Watch how easy...

This is what the flower looks like when you start.

1. Remove the flower from the rest of the flower stem (they should come off easily with a soft pull).

2. Remove the plastic from the flower

3. Take the petals apart (for the ranunculus, there were plastic pieces in between the petals, so make sure you get all that out.

Editors Note: If you'll be gluing the flower back together and you want the forms in the flower to make it full as it was before, leave them in! Just be sure not to get glue all over them (just in the middle) or else it will melt from the hot glue!

4. re-assemble the flower into a pattern you like (editors note: I usually just put the flower petals back the same way they were arranged before). I split the flower into 2 flowers so that it would be less “full,” allowing room to see the pearl/crystal center beads (editors note: and you get more bang for your buck!).

5. I used a sewing pin to hold my flower in place (this is completely optional). Thread your needle (I used white thread).

Editors note: If you're not doing anything fancy in the center (only adding a button or something you can glue on) you can machine sew the flower back together (assuming it's not too thick) or just hot glue/fabric glue it back together (a dab of glue will do it). MUCH quicker and easier.

This is acraftykindoflove's finished product. To see how she added the beads, head on over to check out the rest of the tutorial. After your flower is glued together, just glue a clip of your choice on the back. Super simple.

Don't you love that word? Everyone say it with me......sales....ahhh. I'll admit, the first rack I check out is the sales racks. I'm always up for spending money when it means I get to save a little too! (I can see the husband's eyes rolling)

I've been creating for as long as I can remember. I only started wire wrapping less than a year ago. I decided to start selling on Etsy on January 28th of this year, after no luck with Ebay and too much hassle when I designed my own site, Etsy was a breath of fresh air! I quit my job in corporate America to become a full-time crafter, so my goal is to make a great living at doing what I love and to love doing it! Failure is not an option! …I can be moved by sounds, words, colors, magazines, fashion, plants, nature or whatever tickles my fancy … I find that I'm most inspired by the details of things.
